HBO is proving that they’re ready to take fans on a new epic adventure, this time with a surefire ending, with the new trailer for His Dark Materials, based on the series of the same name by Philip Pullman.
The show follows young Lyra Belacqua (Daphne Keen,) a girl from an alternate dimension version of London, as she discovers friendship, conspiracies, a strange truth-telling device, different and exciting societies within her world, and a rare phenomenon called Dust. Though she’s just venturing into the world on her own for the first time, Lyra will have to become the force that saves multiple universes.
Though there’s been a previous teaser and SDCC trailer, this is by far the deepest dive into Lyra’s world and the threats within, including the vicious Mrs. Coulter (Ruth Wilson) and Lyra’s own father, Lord Asriel (James McAvoy.) Still, the girl has strong allies like Lee Scoresby (Lin-Manuel Miranda) and Iorek Byrnison (voiced by Joe Tandberg.)
His Dark Materials Season 1 premieres on HBO on November 4, 2019.
