Watch the trailer for the dark romantic comedy SPONTANEOUS

Aaron Starmer’s oddball YA book about high school kids spontaneously exploding was announced as being adapted for film back in 2017, so it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything since. But now Awesomeness Films along with Paramount just released the trailer for SPONTANEOUS.

The movie stars Katherine Langford (Love, Simon) and Charlie Plummer (Looking for Alaska), both of whom have already been in several other YA adaptations, as two teens who find themselves falling for each other in a rather unusual time as their classmates start exploding for no reason.

About the movie:

Get ready for the most outrageous coming-of-age love story about growing up…and blowing up! When students in their high school begin inexplicably exploding (literally…), seniors Mara (Katherine Langford) and Dylan (Charlie Plummer) struggle to survive in a world where each moment may be their last. As an unexpected romance blossoms between them, Mara and Dylan discover that when tomorrow is no longer promised, they can finally start living for today!

Featuring: Katherine Langford, Charlie Plummer, Yvonne Orji, Hayley Law, Rob Huebel, Piper Perabo

Spontaneous explodes into theaters October 2nd, and at home on October 6th.
