WONDER WOMAN 1984 Director Releases First Photo of Kristen Wiig as Villain

Find out which iteration of Cheetah we’ll see in WONDER WOMAN 1984!

Patty Jenkins, the director behind Wonder Woman and its upcoming sequel Wonder Woman 1984, just released the first photo of Kristen Wiig on set, giving fans some answers about her character along the way.

Back in March, it was announced that Wiig would be playing the film’s villain, Cheetah. However, there are many iterations of the character in the comics and while there was plenty of speculation, no one knew exactly which one Wiig would play.

Jenkins’ caption confirmed that Wiig will be on-screen as Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva, an archaeologist from an aristocratic family. Minerva is usually obsessed with the legend of Themyscira and Diana’s powers. She receives her Cheetah strength and speed powers on an expedition gone wrong and occasionally, completely loses control of her human mind in favor of the animal side.

Wonder Woman 1984 is due to hit theaters on November 1, 2019.
