Wondercon 2019 | Interview with THE 100’s Marie Avgeropoulos

We got a chance to spend some time with The 100‘s Marie Avgeropoulos (Octavia Blake) at this year’s WonderCon, and though she wouldn’t spill much about what’s to come in the sixth season of the show, she did tease a few things.

Warning: Mild spoilers regarding Season 5.

We know that the brother sister relationship between her and Bellamy went a little awry, so do we know if they’re going to have a chance to reconcile?

“Well, Octavia put Bellamy in the fighting pits when she was Blodreina. And Bellamy poisoned Blodreina. So, it’s like the ultimate sensation of brother-sister rivalry. So, how do you come back from that? We’ll find out.”

Yeah, not quite the answer we wanted, but things are all hush-hush. Avgeropoulos did tease that friendships will be had, and although it’s been a while since she’s had any romantic trysts (RIP Lincoln), it’s possible she could have one this season.

“She does make some new friends. Umm, I’m not going to say if they’re romantic fri\ends. You might see some characters you’re familiar with, or not. But she has some new alliances that will shock everyone. They’re unexpected.”

There’s been word that this new planet the 100 arrive on will have some mysteries that the group will find out soon enough. We believe Marie is hinting at that here.

“If you’ve ever had one of those days or nights where you’ve battled your own self in your mind, where you’ve been very conflicted with yourself. There’s an episode where it really focuses on that, and Octavia goes to war with her own worst enemy.”

So, being that Octavia and Bellamy are the only family they have, it might be safe to say that she’ll confide in him about what happened to Wonkru in that one Dark time, but how much, we don’t know. And what other things she could tell him about, we’re hoping we get to find out along with Bellamy.

“… ultimately they’re family and family is the most important thing after all.”

Marie on Octavia and Bellamy’s relationship

“They do have a discussion because they have to come back at some point to one another, because ultimately they’re family and family is the most important thing after all. But they do have a long way to go, and Octavia has a lot of things to talk about. The hardest things to talk about when you don’t trust anyone is your family ultimately ‘cause you know it’s lock and key and it’s a safe place to chat.”

As far as Octavia’s reaction to Monty’s death, we don’t know how much it will affect her compared to everyone else, however, even during the interview, it was clear she would miss her co-star Chris Larkin, who played Monty, and was on the show since the beginning.

“I’ll miss Chris Larkin big time.”

Marie on the actor who played Monty Green

“I think Monty’s death hit everyone hard. I care more about Chris, I’m like, awww, I’m going to cry right now, I just love him! He’s such a kind guy, like the guy he played on the show. I’ll miss Chris Larkin big time.”

We’ll definitely miss Chris, too. But we’re looking forward to seeing what changes come about for Octavia this coming season.

Season 6 of The 100 premieres Tuesday, April 30th at 9pm on The CW.
