Though it hasn’t been confirmed, Variety previously alleged that Harrelson’s character will be a mentor of sorts for Han Solo and fellow scoundrel friends.
Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller expressed their joy in a short statement from the official Star Wars website:
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
The young Han Solo spinoff also stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, and Emilia Clarke and is due out sometime in 2018.
