X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Pushes Back Release Date… Again

More release dates change in another 20th Century Fox shake-up!

Once upon a time, X-Men: Dark Phoenix was due to hit theaters next month.

In April, 20th Century Fox pushed back the release date to February 14, 2019. Despite the first trailer sporting that February release date that was unveiled only last week, Deadline is reporting that the film has been pushed back yet again.

Dark Phoenix will now be a summer release, hitting theaters on June 7, 2019. Meanwhile, Alita: Battle Angel will move from its ultra-competitive December 21, 2018 release date to the February 14, 2019 slot and down-on-its-luck Gambit, which is still in production, will head out to March 13, 2020.

20th Century Fox can’t just give up that December 21, 2018 slot this late in the game, however, so they’ve got an interesting contingency plan. They’ll reportedly release a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 including some new footage.

The studio has changed release dates quite a bit since it was acquired by Disney (though the merger deal still hasn’t  been implemented.) Let’s hope this is the last set of changes and we can keep track of what’s going on!
