X-MEN pilot reveals new details, gathering cast as production begins!
There have been some big developments for X-Men fans as the upcoming FOX television pilot is underway!
Show producer Lauren Shuler Donner let the title for the series, which has yet to be formally announced, slip on a new Twitter photo caption. That photo features cast members including Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Blair Redford, and Jamie Cheung at their first table read.

Gifted makes sense, as the mutant school Professor X runs is “Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters” and the idea of mutant powers as a gift is common throughout the history of the comics and its adaptations.
The Gifted pilot follows the “ordinary” Stewart family who discovers the children have mutant powers. After being chased down by the government, they join an underground mutant resistance to protect themselves.
You may also notice that Joseph Morgan of The Originals is among the cast. EW has confirmed that Morgan is simply filling in the the table read and hasn’t been added to the cast in an official capacity.
A second photo of the cast came courtesy of Natalie Alyn Lind, who will play Lauren Stewart in the series. The cast is shooting in Dallas and the actress shared her excitement very shortly after landing with several of her co-stars.

No word on when the Gifted pilot will be aired for studio execs, nor is there any guarantee that it will be picked up for a full series. Fingers crossed!
