Zendaya To Star in Sony and Marvel’s Collaborative SPIDER-MAN Reboot

Zendaya to play a Marvel comics character adapted to film for the first time!

Marvel and Sony have reportedly found their female lead for their joint Spider-Man reboot in none other than children’s television star Zendaya!

The actress, best known for roles in Shake It Up and K.C. Undercover, is playing a character named “Michelle,” according to the casting announcement at Deadline.

We’re guessing that the name refers to Michele Gonzales, a roommate and love interest of Peter Parker with a passion for kickboxing and an infamous temper. In the comics, she’s also a defense lawyer who defends her own brother, a former NYPD police officer, after he’s implicated in a rash of murders. However, the reboot will focus on a much younger version of the characters. Perhaps we’ll see the events that inspire Michele to become a lawyer, if this is indeed the character we think it is?

The untitled Spider-Man reboot stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker and is due to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
