About a week ago, we got to participate in a virtual roundtable interview with Zetna Fuentes, the director for the first two episodes of Netflix’s Cursed adaptation, and we had a great time!
Zetna first talks about what the process is to get to be a director, which unfortunately, her explanation was cut off in the beginning, but you get the idea.
Then we asked what her favorite memorable scenes to shoot on the show were. If you’ve seen Cursed, or at least the first two episodes, you’ll probably know what she means when she talks about Nimue’s battle on the rock.
Interestingly enough, she was working on the project at the same time the book was still being worked on as well, so she didn’t get to read the finished literature project before working on the adaptation.
As far as origin stories, she does love doing it and wouldn’t mind doing it for any of the other characters in the series.
Though Zetna’s many previous directorial projects are more in the modern drama genre, she did enjoy delving into the fantasy genre for this particular series. She also started directing in daytime drama, and she does say that what she learned during her time on those shows still very much helps her on a daily basis in directing, including in Cursed.
You can watch the whole video above, in which she also talks about star Katherine Langford and the themes of the story.
Cursed is now available to watch on Netflix.
