Zoey Deutch To Star In Movie Adaptation of Lauren Oliver’s BEFORE I FALL

Zoey Deutch will play Sam Kingston in BEFORE I FALL!

Author Lauren Oliver is perhaps best known for her Delirium trilogy, but her fans have a special place in their hearts for her pre-Delirium debut, httBefore I Fall. The rights for the film were sold to Fox 2000 years ago, but the studio never put the film into production. Screenwriter Maria Maggenti’s adaptation made it on to the prestigious Black List for film scripts in 2011, but still, there was no news for the movie. Now, we’ve finally got some major casting!

Actress Zoey Deutch will play Sam Kingston, a high school queen bee who feels the harsh slap of reality when she dies… and wakes up the night morning to relive the same day again, forced to recognize the way her actions impact the lives of others. Slowly, Sam is able to peel back the layers, discover what life is really about, and decide whether her life is truly redeemable.

While there’s a Groundhog Day-esque element to it, Before I Fall is charming, poignant, and smart. It’s a really touching contemporary novel and all signs point to a solid film as well!

According to Deadline, Awesomeness Films is reportedly looking to begin principal photography for the film next month in Vancouver.

Zoey Deutch previously had roles in two major YA adaptations– Vampire Academy and Beautiful Creatures— and has also worked on popular shows like Ringer and The Suite Life On Deck. She’ll also star in the upcoming Dirty Grandpa and Richard Linklater’s Everybody Wants Some.
